ASRC Energy Services needed get a better control over the many Standard Operating Procedures and Work Instructions associated with the energy exploration on the north slope in Alaska. ASRC wanted to standardize the SOPs and capture work instructions across a wide variety of very complex and dangerous tasks, and needed a consistent way to present the information to the operators in a way that allowed for updates, revisions and linking top multiple job aids on-demand.
ASRC Energy Services (AES) is a leading oil and gas service company with headquarters in Anchorage, Alaska. ASRC operates in Alaska and Louisiana, and have the resources and expertise to offer complete services throughout the life of an oil and gas field.
ASRC Energy Services selected ExpressTrain as the work instruction template because it allowed them to customize the work instructions to meet their needs and provided a single-source knowledgebase for the approved WI’s. ExpressTrain was used to capture the content into a work instruction template which served as the input to a database. Once entered into ExpressTrain, ASRC was able to automatically generate a full set of work instructions, web-based tutorials, job aids, quick reference cards, and instructor-led training in PowerPoint. Of particular value to ASRC was the ability to utilize existing materials via links in the ExpressTrain outputs.
The result of the development project created a capability for ASRC to better support the energy exploration and extraction in some of the most demanding environments in the world.
With ExpressTrain job aids, references, web-based training and task qualification checklists, ASRC has been improving operations for the past two years, which contributes to corporate overall performance.
